元は松本市役所があった場所で、移転に伴う再開発で昭和34（1959）年に建設された。遺された30坪弱の敷地を、明治44（1911）創業の老舗菓子店「翁堂」が購入し、来店する客に待ち時間を楽しんでもらえるようにと上喫茶「翁堂茶房」をオープン、60年ほど市民の憩いの場として親しまれてきた。上質な空間を演出するために銀座から台湾出身の設計士を呼んだといい、オリジナルのシャンデリアやブラケットライトなど細部までこだわって作られているという。店内からは噴水のある洋風の坪庭が眺められ、下り天井で落ち着いた雰囲気に仕上げられている。

内装や調度品などはそのまま使うことを条件に現店主が借り受け、平成28（2016）年、自家焙煎のコーヒー専門店としてリニューアルオープン。2階は工房として使用しており、長野のりんごを使って発酵するなど独特の方法で焙煎したオリジナルの豆を製造する。若い世代に引き継がれた後も、長く地元に愛されてきた店の趣を伝えている。

 The former location where Matsumoto City Hall was built in 1959 as part of a redevelopment project following its relocation. The old confectionary store “Okinado”, founded in 1911, purchased the remaining site of less than 1,000 square meters, and opened the cafe “Okinado Tea House” for customers to enjoy while waiting, and it has been a place of relaxation for the citizens for about 60 years. It is said that a Taiwanese architect from Ginza was invited to create a high-quality space, and the original chandeliers and bracket lights were made with great attention to detail. The interior of the restaurant overlooks a Western-style tsuboniwa garden with a fountain, and the downward ceiling creates a relaxed atmosphere.

The second floor is used as a workshop to produce original coffee beans roasted in a unique way using Nagano apples for fermentation. Even after being taken over by the younger generation, it still retains the atmosphere of a store that has been loved by the locals for a long time.
