江戸時代後期の松本は水運が盛んで、女鳥羽川に面した裏小路側には商家の倉庫が多く立ち並んでいた。輸送は「犀川通船」が担っており、信州新町から松本間の物流を支えていたという。この倉庫は漢方薬を扱う店が建てたもので、役目を終えた後は飲食店などとして使われていた。平成24（2012）年からは「日本ラジオ博物館」として使用され、ラジオ黎明期からのコレクションを解説付きで展示していた。マニア垂涎の博物館だったが手狭になり移転。令和3（2021）年に、地元の人気珈琲店が手掛けるコーヒーショップとして生まれ変わった。 
東側の出入口は増築部分であり、正面や内装も店舗転用時に改装されている。2階の天井の中央を貫く「牛梁」と呼ばれる大きな梁に築年と建主の名前が墨書きされている。建物正面の妻壁の上部には牛梁の先端を塗り込めた丸い形の牛鼻があるが、一般的には家紋や屋号、鏝絵（こてえ）で装飾することが多い。軒裏は斜めに土壁で塗り上げられ、元からの小窓には防火用の鉄扉を備えた、まちなかの土蔵の典型的な造りである。

In the late Edo period, Matsumoto was active in water transportation, and many warehouses of merchant families lined the back alley side facing the Metoba River. Transportation was handled by the “Saigawa Tsusen,” which supported logistics between Shinshu-Shinmachi and Matsumoto. These warehouses were built by a store that dealt in Chinese herbal medicines, and after their service was over, they were used as restaurants and other businesses. Since 2012, it has been used as the “Japan Radio Museum,” displaying collections from the early days of radio with explanations. The museum was coveted by radio enthusiasts, but it became too cramped and was relocated. In 2021, it was reborn as a coffee shop run by a popular local coffee shop.

The east entrance is an addition, and the front and interior were remodeled when the store was converted. The top of the gable wall in the front of the building is decorated with a rounded “ushibana,” which is painted in with the tip of the “ushibari,” but it is usually decorated with a family crest, a house name, or a kote-e. The backs of the eaves are slanted and painted with clay walls, and the original small windows are equipped with iron doors for fire protection, typical of the earthen storehouses in the town.
