Jörgen Axelvall
スウェーデン生まれの写真家。ニューヨークに15年間滞在した後、平成23（2011）年、日本へ移住。現在は東京を拠点に、世界各地で展覧会を開催している。
親密と孤独にまつわる作品は、セレクトフォーカスやソフトフォーカスの効果を利用し、抽象化された夢のような世界を想起させる。一つのプロジェクトにじっくり時間をかけることが多く、個人的でありながらも普遍的である。極端な脆さと美しさを撮すことで、視覚的な物語として被写体を瞬間的なエッセンスへ変えようと試みる。その写真は彼が創作する実験的な詩文と響き合う。
平成25（2013）年、アメリカ版VOGUE誌による「NEW EXPOSURE賞」のインターナショナルウィナー、平成27（2015）年の第18回文化庁メディア芸術祭、平成31（2019）年のアテネ・フォトフェスティバルなどにおいて国際的な賞を受賞。4つのモノグラフを刊行。2018年以降は東京のKEN NAKAHASHIギャラリーで活動する。
Jörgen Axelvall is a Tokyo based photographer and artist from Sweden.
Previous to moving to Tokyo in 2011 Axelvall resided in NYC for 15 years.
He tends towards long-term projects: exploring intimacy and solitude; soft- or select-focus evoking abstracted, dream-like realms at once personal, yet universal.
Axelvall attempts to seize the utter vulnerability and beauty to transubstantiate the subject into essence of the moment. Axelvall’s visual storytelling interacts with his experimental word. Axelvall exhibits internationally, and has won significant awards: International Winner, New Exposure by Vogue USA, 2013, The 18th Japan Media Arts Festival, 2015, and Athens Photo Festival, 2019. Axelvall has five monographs to date. Since 2018, Jörgen Axelvall has been represented by Ken Nakahashi Gallery in Tokyo.
吉本天地
Amachi Yoshimoto
ファッションブランド「amachi.」（あまち）のデザイナー、吉本天地は平成5（1993）年、北カリフォルニアの山奥、エルクバレーに生まれる。両親はミュージシャンで、当時全盛だったヒッピーカルチャーの中、電気も水道もなく自然の中で全てを手作りするという環境で幼少期を暮らす。
その後日本へ移住し、高校卒業後、独学で服作りをスタート。国内外のブランドやパターンオフィス等で経験を積んだのち、平成29（2017）年、長野県の山麓にアトリエを構え「amachi.」を創設。自然と都市の物理的、精神的距離感をどう測るか、物凄い速さで変化し消費し続ける現代の生活の中に、自然が持つ時間軸や普遍性、複雑性をどのように見出し、融合させていけるのか。その独自の考察から生まれるコレクションを、唯一無二のデザイナーとして発表している。
Amachi Yoshimoto, designer of the fashion brand “amachi.” was born in 1993 in Elk Valley, deep in the mountains of Northern California. His parents were musicians, and he spent his childhood in the midst of the hippie culture that was at its height at the time, where everything was handmade in nature with no electricity or running water.
He then moved to Japan and started making clothes on his own after graduating from high school. After gaining experience at domestic and international brands and pattern offices, he established his atelier at the foot of the mountains in Nagano Prefecture in 2017 and founded “amachi.”. How can we measure the physical and mental distance between nature and the city, and how can we find and fuse the time axis, universality, and complexity of nature in today’s fast-paced, ever-changing, ever-consuming lifestyle. As a unique designer, he presents collections born from this original consideration.
作品ステートメント
芸術や建築は、常に自然から美的感覚や構造的なインスピレーションを得てきました。私の作品は、私たちが共有する環境という文脈の中で、主に人間の姿に焦点を当て、私たちが生まれながらにして持っている自然や周囲の環境を吟味しています。
天地（吉本天地）に会い、彼の作品に親しんでいると、すぐに私たちの考え方が似ていることがわかりました。非凡で無形のもの、スピリチュアルなものを作りたいという共通の興味があり、コラボレーションすることは当然で、ほとんど決まっているように感じました。
デジタル革命のはるか以前から、人類は常に近くて遠いつながりを求めてきました。かつて賑わった数百メートルの六九商店街は、日常的に地域の人々を結びつけ、同時に世界中に張り巡らされた道路や小道のネットワークの中の小さな一片としての役割を担っていたのです。
私たちのプロジェクトは、失われたつながりを辿ると同時に、人と人とのつながりだけでなく、都市化が進む中で、天地さんの幻想的なデザインに見られるような自然とのつながりを再構築し、新しいつながりを生み出す試みと言えるかもしれません。かつて仕立屋として栄えた会場では、大切な日の衣装を注文するお客様が生地選びや採寸に訪れた、当時の熱気と賑わいを想像していただけると思います。また、このスペースは、地元の商店街の方々のポートレートを撮影するための仮設撮影所にもなっており、それも自分を変身させるための舞台となっていたのです。
この展覧会が、私たちのルーツや現在、そしてこの街やその先にある未来の姿について考えるきっかけになればと願っています。

Arts and architecture have always found inspiration in nature, esthetically as well as structurally. My own practice investigates our innate and surrounding nature by predominantly focusing on the human figure within the context of our shared environment.
Meeting Amachi and familiarizing myself with his work it quickly became apparent that we have a similar mindset – a common interest in creating something extraordinary and intangible, akin to spiritual and to collaborate felt obvious, almost predetermined.
Throughout history, long before the digital revolution, humanity has always strived for connections, near and far. The once bustling Rock Street, a stretch of a few hundred meters, brought the local community together on an everyday basis while also serving as a small piece in the globe-spanning network of roads and paths spanning the entire world.
Our project can be seen as an attempt to trace lost connections while at the same time re-imagining the present and forging new ones, not just between people but also, in an increasingly urbanized world, re-connecting with mother nature, as is apparent in Amachi’s fantastical design. At our exhibition venue, once a thriving tailor shop, it’s easy to imagine the frenzy and commotion of bygone days when excited customers ordering attires for important occasions would pay a visit to choose fabrics and be measured. The space also served as our temporary photo studio for the portraits of the local shop keepers, and so once again it became a stage for transformation of one’s appearance.
I hope this exhibition can inspire thought about our roots, our present and what we want the future to look like in the city and beyond.
